G’Day, Bonjour.
Brentos is Australian illustrator artist Brent Turner, and French-Canadian born Tash Leemburg. If we haven't met yet, it's awesome to meet you! We paint murals, illustrate picture books, design merch and try to bring a bit of stoke to the world whilst shining a light on how cool Aussie wildlife and the natural world is.
A signature style
Brent has crafted a signature art style that swings from a mature psychedelic pastel punk theme inspired by the likes of vintage Mambo that can be seen in bars, pubs and breweries – with a softer whimsical theme that can be discovered in Brent's best-selling picture books. His works bursts with pastels, big surf and native animals that aim to champion Australia's natural environment.
Art that inspires, engages and educates
Brentos' art naturally hums with colourful pastels, cheeky wildlife characters and gnarly surf – but behind the pastels there's a deeper purpose that aims to celebrate the beauty and importance of Australia's natural world in a non-threatening and joyful way that aims to inspire and educate.
Creator of best-selling picture books.
Brentos' books have collectively sold over 50,000 copies within Australia and have been shortlisted for a number of awards including CBCA New Illustrator, CBCA Eve Pownall, ABIA Picture Book of the Year, Indie Book Awards and Wilderness Society's Environment Award for Children's Literature. His success has seen him sign an additional 3-book deal with publisher Affirm Press.
Partnering with much loved brands and non-profits.
Brentos has collabed with many beloved Australian and international brands renowned for premium products, strong values and a commitment to bettering the world. Our list of collab partners include: Peter Alexander, Coopers Brewery, World Surf League, Surfing Australia, Greenpeace, WIRES, Hallmark, Reddit, Crocs, Sydney Wildlife Rescue, Buckettys, Envoy Foundation and more.
Brent, the creative one
Brent (or 'Brentos' as his mates call him) grew up with the bush on his doorstep where he’d spend his free time exploring fire trails, building bush shacks and searching for yabbies in secret watering holes. If he wasn’t in the bush, he’d be at the beach body surfing with mates or learning Photoshop and HTML on his old computer. He's the guy who makes the art, draws the illustrations and designs the merch.
Tash, special ops
Tash moved from Montréal to Sydney in 2017. As an adventure seeker she fell in love with surfing and when surfing with beavers in Montreal river rapids wasn't enough, she jumped on a plane to Australia to find the perfect wave. Tash is the master of all trades, from painting murals to managing our retail to creating awesome videos, she keeps our little art practice humming along.
Inspired by nature
Growing up in the bush and on the coast you develop a real appreciation for the sights, smells and connectedness of the Australian bush, of the plants, the insects, reptiles and animals that we share this land with. It's our mission as artists to celebrate this and aim to be a positive voice for our wildlife.
Doing our bit to do our bit
When Brent began making art in 2015, it started as a hobby where he'd donate his proceeds to WIRES. What started as a hobby soon grew into a small creative business that today still supports wildlife and a number of community initiatives. We're proud to have raised over $55,000 for wildlife rescue and rehabilitation efforts and have had the honour of donating multiple large-scale mural artworks to children's hospitals.
